Arjoi Niradhar
What is the Meaning of Arjoi Niradhar?
Mahraz Jee was once asked to explain in detail the meaning of the Arjoi. The following answer was subsequently given by him, and is translated from a Punjabi transcript. Despite our shortcomings we have tried to remain true to the original.
Arjoi literally means request. The word Niradhar is an inference to God, who is simultaneously in existence and not in existence. He is the God who being without tangible form, has to adopt some form or another whenever he comes to earth. For example if we say that Ram, Krishna and Guru Nanak are God, then they too have had to manifest in the human form. They have no form of their own, but merely adopt one based on the sentiments of their devotees. For example when Parlad remembered him, meaning prayed to him, he subsequently appeared to him in the form of Narsingh. Similarly to other devotees he appeared in the form of Ram. Though some accept him as formless, he merely emulates any form based on your sentiments.
HEY DAATA; O Lord I beseech thee - The word Daata entails the Lord as the Giver, and Benefactor.
PEHLI UPMA TERI DAATA; First praise is yours God
The word upma is divided into three consonants U + P + Ma; the primal letter U (pronounced 'oo') implies Onkar (God). Secondly the letter P denotes ‘Pairi’ (earth), And finally the letter Ma signifies ‘Manukh’ (Mankind).
Synopsis: O Lord within the three worlds namely, Earth, Heaven and the Nether worlds emanates your creation.
DOOJI TERI KHUDAI; Secondly is your divinity and providence
The word Khudai refers to wind, water, sun, stars and all living entities: these are all under God’s vision and direction.

What is ‘Oat’? It can be described as when in dire need, one seeks the assistance of his kith and kin. Similarly ‘Aasra’ is when you meet someone who relieves you of this need to rely on others for help. This person himself comes to you and fulfils your needs.

- Panch meaning five refers to the five natural elements of earth, wind, fire, water and ether which constitute the body.

Whenever you utter this prayer it will be accepted in God's house, but do it attentively. This is the blessing I have ordained from God's house, and is the praise of my God, who is omnipresent.
Even if you do not want to say this prayer, I am still going to recite it regardless. Through this prayer, I worship my God. God has bestowed it to me and I have duly written it down, otherwise, why did I not write this before?
If you choose to recite this prayer, whether you do it in the morning, during the day, before you go to sleep is entirely up to you.
