Das Dharam
On 16th February 1980 Mahraz Darshan Das established Das Dharam, the practical arm of his mission and bestowed the slogan ‘Nanak Naam Chardi Kala Tere Bhane Sarbat Da Bhala’ to his followers, urging selfless service (Sewa) and goodwill in the name of God for all humanity. The slogan Mahraz Jee stated is the essence of Das Dharam, and literally means ‘In the name of the supreme Lord, do something good for someone in your life.’
Mahraz Darshan Das stated that only those people who set aside their own needs for the sake of others will be accepted into Das Dharam. Selfless service not only brings solace to the soul Mahraz Jee added, it deems people worthy of their status as human beings.
Mahraz Jee described 'Das' as a free servant of humanity. He stated that whosoever shows mercy to others and tries to live by the following principles is a true Das;
• Sach (Truth)
• Sidak (Contentment)
• Sarbat Da Bhala (Welfare and service for others)
• Sadh Sangat (Attending the congregation)
• Shahadat (Sacrifice of ones vices)
Mahraz Darshan Das described DHARAM as a promise; a covenant made by a person with God before birth, promising to sing God's praises and to serve His creation.
Das Dharam embraces all as equal without regards to caste, creed, class, colour, race, gender or religion. It does not seek to enslave but teaches people to be free.
The religion for followers of Das Dharam is Humanitarianism. Mahraz Darshan Das stated, “the greatest religion is humanitarianism and its teaching is humanity.”
